The British Family began in January 2013 as a project for the Bradshaw family, to see just how long they could survive buying only products and produce made and grown in the UK. It wasn’t long before the story got the attention of the media and what started as a family idea grew very quickly.
Through the journey of the British Family, they had the chance to meet producers and manufacturers from all over the UK and came to see just how vital it is to support local producers and farmers. Combining this with her love of food and day job as a teacher, Emily now runs cookery courses in the West Kent area encouraging more people to make the most of the ingredients local to them. Creating your own food from scratch doesn’t have to be difficult or expensive and part of what she demonstrates is just how much you can do with things most people will already find in their kitchen.
